What an aircraft dispatcher does
Aircraft dispatchers share operational control of airline flights with the pilot in command. They plan each flight, authorize its release and monitor it to arrival. Every U.S. airline flying under Part 121 domestic and flag rules must dispatch through a certificated aircraft dispatcher.

Plans the flight
Weather, route, altitude, fuel, weight and balance, plus the airport notices (NOTAMs) and equipment limits (MEL) that affect the flight, before the crew ever sees the release.

Releases the flight
Signs the dispatch release with the pilot in command. Neither can send the flight alone.

Follows it to arrival
Watches weather and airspace, passes the crew what affects safety, and amends the release when the plan changes.
What dispatchers read
Can you read this yet?
Every flight starts with the weather in its raw form. This is a surface observation and a forecast for Miami International, exactly as they arrive on a dispatcher's screen.
Example reports, kept here for teaching. They are not live and are never used for planning.

Why train at AJINSE
What no tool does for you
You dispatch by hand, on a Boeing 737, from the live weather of the day
In the final weeks you work real flight plans the way a dispatcher does, with today's charts, equipment limits, current winds, reroutes and holds. Then you sign the release and brief the captain. No tool does it for you until you can do it yourself. That is what the FAA approved, and it is what you will be tested on.
